Tribal Credit is a financing and payments company built for emerging-market SMBs looking for a better way to pay and finance business expenses and increase their financial efficiency. The US-based company provides modern payment methods like multi-currency physical and virtual business Visa cards, local and international wires, short-term financing, and a powerful spend management platform to track and control expenses—all in one seamless interface.
A CUSTOMER-CENTRIC ETHOS, A CLEAR MISSION, AND A FUTURE-FORWARD APPROACH.
Not shackled by legacy infrastructure, Tribal was able to build a streamlined payment and spend management platform that was nimble and responsive to the ever-changing customer needs of its startup and high-growth small and medium size enterprise customer base. Solves were created from customer onboarding to cross-border payments headaches that plague startups in regions with less dynamic commercial banking markets. Though still early in its growth journey, the company had proved its products and demonstrated a successful early track record. However, it was not yet at the stage or scale required to access debt funding from traditional banks or securitization investors.
THE OPPORTUNITY FOR CURRENT AND FUTURE GROWTH
PFG recognized the deep domain expertise across the leadership team and the customer first orientation that drove the business. Though the company lacked a multi-year operating history, PFG was keen to help fund the on-going expansion and provide the growth capital for Tribal to build on its successes. The growth roadmap and product expansion that the company began to execute allowed PFG to assess the growth opportunity and structure a debt facility with ample expansion capacity to provide funding for future growth of the platform. Tribal Credit has since increased its revenue by 5x, while empowering thousands of emerging market SMEs to compete in global markets, with over $500M in global payments and credit.
